Questions and answers

Chiropractors and sick leave

Chiropractors in Norway are authorised to issue sick leave for musculoskeletal problems. Here is a short explanation of how it works.

01

Sick leave for up to 12 weeks

Chiropractors can issue sick leave for up to 12 weeks in total for problems in the musculoskeletal system. Whether sick leave is right is assessed based on the examination and your work situation.

02

Partial sick leave

Many people do better staying partly active. That is why partial sick leave or adjustments at work are often considered before full sick leave.

  • Cooperation with your GP when needed

After 12 weeks

If you need sick leave beyond 12 weeks, your GP follows up from there. I can send a report so the handover is simple.

Frequently asked questions

Can a chiropractor issue sick leave in Norway?
Yes. Chiropractors can issue sick leave for musculoskeletal problems, for up to 12 weeks in total.
Can I get partial sick leave from a chiropractor?
Yes. Staying partly at work is often better, and partial (graded) sick leave can be a good option when appropriate.
What if I need sick leave for more than 12 weeks?
Your GP then takes over further follow-up of the sick leave. I am happy to work with your GP.
